Primate Labs has officially launched Geekbench AI, a benchmarking tool designed specifically for machine learning and AI-centric workloads.
The release of Geekbench AI 1.0 marks the culmination of years of development and collaboration with customers, partners, and the AI engineering community. The benchmark, previously known as Geekbench ML during its preview phase, has been rebranded to align with industry terminology and ensure clarity about its purpose.
Geekbench AI is now available for Windows, macOS, and Linux through the Primate Labs website, as well as on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for mobile devices.
Primate Labs has introduced a new benchmarking tool designed to establish a uniform framework for evaluating and contrasting AI capabilities on various systems and architectures. This tool brings a novel perspective by offering three distinct scores that cater to the diverse and complex requirements of AI tasks.
“Assessing performance is inherently challenging,” said Primate Labs. “The difficulty doesn’t lie in conducting any random test, but in identifying the tests that are crucial for evaluating the desired performance, especially when each platform has its nuances and everyone’s approach is slightly different.”
The benchmark’s triple-score system reflects the different levels of precision and hardware enhancements typically seen in current AI technologies. This approach is beneficial for developers, hardware manufacturers, and tech enthusiasts for obtaining a comprehensive understanding of a device’s AI performance in various situations.
An important feature of Geekbench AI is its implementation of accuracy evaluations for each test, recognizing that AI effectiveness is not merely about speed but also the quality of outcomes. By integrating metrics of speed and accuracy, Geekbench AI offers a rounded assessment of AI capabilities, aiding users in recognizing the balance between performance and accuracy.
Geekbench AI 1.0 now supports a vast array of AI frameworks such as OpenVINO on Linux and Windows, along with specific TensorFlow Lite delegates like Samsung ENN, ArmNN, and Qualcomm QNN on Android. This inclusion ensures that the benchmark mirrors the current tools and techniques applied by AI developers.
Moreover, the benchmark incorporates broader and more varied datasets, which not only boosts the precision of evaluations but also aligns more closely with real-life AI scenarios. All tests within Geekbench AI 1.0 are structured to run for at least one second, enabling devices to achieve their peak performance during the benchmarks while accurately representing the intermittent nature of real-world usage.
Primate Labs provides comprehensive technical details on the workloads and models in Geekbench AI 1.0, highlighting their dedication to openness and adherence to recognized testing standards. The benchmark is connected to the Geekbench Browser, which supports straightforward cross-platform benchmark comparisons and sharing of results.
The firm expects to regularly update Geekbench AI to align with technological advancements and the introduction of new AI capabilities. Nonetheless, Primate Labs is confident in the current reliability of Geekbench AI, making it a dependable tool already employed by leading technology firms like Samsung and Nvidia in their workflows.
