Introducing Google’s Veo 2: AI Video Generation at Just 50 Cents per Second

Google has recently announced the pricing for its new AI video model, Veo 2, which it first introduced in December. The cost for using Veo 2 is set at 50 cents per second of video. This means the overall cost averages out to $30 per minute, equating to approximately $1,800 for a full hour of generated content.
In drawing comparisons, Jon Barron, a researcher from Google DeepMind, highlighted the significant difference between this pricing and the production costs of blockbuster films such as “Avengers: Endgame,” which had a staggering reported budget of $356 million — translating to about $32,000 per second.
It’s worth noting that customers may not use every second of the video generated by Veo, and the model is optimized for shorter clips, generally aimed at creating content that lasts at least two minutes. For reference, OpenAI has recently offered its video generation model, Sora, to its ChatGPT Pro subscribers for $200 monthly.
