Ex-Googler’s Yoodli Sees Valuation Soar to Over $300M: AI Built to Assist, Not Replace
Yoodli, an AI-driven communication training startup co-founded by former Google and Apple engineers, has recently seen its valuation surge to over $300 million, more than tripling in the past six months. This growth follows a $40 million Series B funding round led by WestBridge Capital, with contributions from Neotribe and Madrona. The startup has now raised nearly $60 million in total since its inception.
Established in 2021, Yoodli focuses on using AI to enhance communication skills, offering users simulated scenarios for practice, such as sales calls and leadership coaching. Varun Puri, one of the co-founders, recognized the struggles many face with communication after moving to the U.S. at 18, noting how difficult it can be for individuals, especially from non-English speaking countries, to express themselves.
Initially intended for public speaking training, Yoodli has evolved to address a wide range of communication challenges, leading to its pivot towards enterprise training solutions. Its AI capabilities enable users to rehearse complex conversations and receive structured feedback, which has attracted clients such as Google, Snowflake, and Databricks.
Puri emphasizes that while AI can facilitate learning, the human element remains vital for personalized feedback and authenticity. Yoodli’s platform integrates with various large language models like Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s GPT, and it is designed to work seamlessly within enterprise environments, requiring no additional mobile app.
Despite not disclosing user numbers, Puri mentioned impressive growth metrics, including a 50% increase in role-plays and a remarkable 900% rise in average recurring revenue over the past year. The latest funding will be directed towards expanding Yoodli’s AI coaching and analytical tools, as well as hiring new talent to enhance its offerings in the professional development sector.
