Privacy-Focused AI Assistant Ollie to Shut Down

Ollie, a privacy-focused AI assistant, will shut down on November 6, just a week after its co-founder and CEO, Bill Lennon, announced the closure.
The subscription app was designed to help families stay connected and organized. It linked with users’ email and calendars and offered tools for booking appointments, planning meals, and paying bills. The company had also planned to add household budgeting features.
Ollie raised a $7.5 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures. It was also among the first mainstream apps to earn SOC 2 certification, a privacy standard verified through an independent audit.
But competition in the growing AI assistant market made it difficult for the startup to stand out, expand, and secure the funding it needed, Lennon said. He pointed to new entrants including Muse and Instinct.
Ollie will provide customers with instructions for exporting their data and receiving refunds in the coming days. Lennon’s announcement confirms the shutdown date.
