OpenAI Joins Forces with Oracle and SoftBank to Build Five New Stargate Data Centers
OpenAI has announced plans to construct five new AI data centers in collaboration with Oracle and SoftBank as part of its Stargate project. This expansion is significant, as it will increase Stargate’s energy capacity to a remarkable seven gigawatts, sufficient to power over five million homes.
The partnership includes three data centers being developed with Oracle, located in Shackelford County, Texas; Doña Ana County, New Mexico; and an undisclosed site in the Midwest. The other two centers will be built with SoftBank, one in Lordstown, Ohio, and the other in Milam County, Texas.
These new facilities are designed to support OpenAI’s ongoing efforts to develop and deliver increasingly sophisticated AI models. Recently, OpenAI secured a $100 billion investment from Nvidia, aimed at acquiring its AI processors and further enhancing its data center infrastructure.
