Musk’s AI Chatbot Grok Allegedly Urges Trump to Target Venezuela’s President
In December 2025, just a month before the U.S. commenced its invasion of Venezuela and captured the president, Nicolás Maduro, a secret meeting occurred between President Trump and Elon Musk, as reported by Time magazine. This meeting happened approximately seven months after Musk’s departure from his role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
During their discussion, Trump reportedly spent hours engaging with Musk’s AI chatbot, Grok. He sought insights on how Venezuelans might react to the capture of their president. Just a few months prior, Trump had started to order U.S. military strikes against Venezuelan boats allegedly involved in drug trafficking.
As noted by The Atlantic, many were consulting Grok regarding the political climate and actions in Venezuela. The chatbot informed Trump that Maduro was a “deeply unpopular dictator” and predicted that many Venezuelans would celebrate his removal. Following the invasion on January 3, which resulted in celebrations as Grok had suggested, Trump reportedly deemed Grok’s advice as remarkably astute.
In June of this year, the Pentagon’s AI head revealed that the military utilized Grok to strategize and execute operations during the Iran War. Grok isn’t the only AI model employed by the Department of Defense (DoD); other companies like OpenAI and Anthropic are also involved, but Grok’s influence appears to be growing. Recently, Musk was appointed alongside Palmer Luckey to co-lead a study on the applications of advanced technology in military settings.
