Apple Unveils AI-Powered Final Cut Pro 11: What’s New and How It Enhances Your Editing Experience
After 13 years since the release of Final Cut X, Apple has launched Final Cut Pro 11, marking a significant upgrade in its video-editing software. This long-awaited update brings AI-powered features that promise to enhance users’ editing capabilities. Available for download starting November 13, existing users will receive it as a free update, while new customers can purchase it from the Mac App Store for $300, following a 90-day trial.
The main highlight of Final Cut Pro 11 is its integration of artificial intelligence, a trend Apple has recently embraced across its platforms. One standout feature is Magnetic Mask, allowing users to seamlessly crop individuals and objects from videos without needing a green screen. This enhancement provides editors with greater flexibility for altering backgrounds and applying custom effects.
Another significant AI feature added is Transcribe to Captions, which automatically generates text for the video timeline using an in-house large language model. This not only streamlines the editing process but also ensures subtitles are readily available for viewers.
Apple has also introduced support for editing Spatial Video, a feature designed for its mixed-reality hardware. Users can now work with footage captured on the latest iPhones, adding color corrections and effects while adjusting title depth positioning.
In addition to these features, the software introduces time-saving tools such as the Magnetic Timeline, which allows easy rearrangement of clips while maintaining audio sync. Final Cut Pro 11 is optimized for Apple’s M-series silicon, enabling the playback of higher numbers of simultaneous 4K and 8K ProRes video streams.
Moreover, Apple is expanding its offering with Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.1, which comes with enhanced lighting and color tools, as well as an improved workflow experience. Existing users can download this update for free.
