Ben Affleck recently addressed concerns from Hollywood actors and writers regarding artificial intelligence’s impact on their jobs. In the wake of strikes last year by unions fighting for protections against AI, Affleck reassured them that AI is currently incapable of performing the duties required of actors and screenwriters, and it likely won’t be able to do so anytime soon.

During an onstage interview with CNBC, he remarked, “Movies will be one of the last things — if everything gets replaced — to be replaced by AI.” Affleck emphasized that while AI can generate impressive imitative writing, it cannot replicate the artistry of a true creator, stating, “AI can write you an excellent imitative verse that sounds Elizabethan; it cannot write you Shakespeare.”
