NVIDIA GPUs Set to Drive Oracle’s Next-Generation Enterprise AI Services
Oracle and NVIDIA have recently intensified their collaboration to enhance enterprise AI services significantly. Announced at Oracle AI World, this partnership focuses on integrating powerful new hardware and deeply fused software solutions, aiming to place AI at the core of data management.
Ian Buck, NVIDIA’s VP of Hyperscale and High-Performance Computing, highlighted that this initiative revolutionizes accelerated computing by optimizing database AI pipelines, accelerating data processing, and simplifying the deployment and scalability of inference on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
The centerpiece of this partnership is the introduction of the OCI Zettascale10 computing cluster, powered by NVIDIA GPUs. This remarkable platform is designed for intensive AI training and inference workloads, boasting an astounding 16 zettaflops of peak AI compute performance. It features NVIDIA’s Spectrum-X Ethernet, which promotes efficient data transfer, allowing organizations to scale with millions of processors.
However, while the performance capabilities are impressive, the essence of this partnership lies in its software integrations, which are designed to incorporate AI into every facet of business operations. Mahesh Thiagarajan, Oracle’s Executive VP of Cloud Infrastructure, noted that OCI Zettascale10 delivers exceptional capability for managing complex AI workloads.
Central to this new strategy is the Oracle AI Database 26ai. Historically, enterprises typically moved data to where AI models resided; Oracle’s innovative approach flips that logic, advocating for the integration of AI directly within the database. This shift is intended to provide greater security and efficiency.
The database includes features that enable AI workflows to run internally. These agentic AI workflows combine sensitive enterprise data with external, public information without exposing private data outside its secure bounds. Notably, a Unified Hybrid Vector Search feature enables seamless context retrieval across varied data formats, such as relational tables and spatial maps.
Oracle is committed to security, implementing quantum-resistant algorithms to protect data at rest and in transit from potential future threats posed by quantum computing.
Industry analyst Holger Mueller from Constellation Research underscored the significance of high-quality data for effective AI implementation, stating that Oracle AI Database 26ai provides a singular, secure environment for AI-driven analysis while facilitating simplified customer access to AI capabilities.
In addition to enhancing its database, Oracle plans to power its Private AI Services Container with NVIDIA GPUs, enabling companies to run AI models securely while streamlining data preparation for AI applications.
The partnership also includes the introduction of the Oracle AI Data Platform, which now incorporates a built-in NVIDIA GPU option. This development empowers data scientists and engineers to accelerate workflows without requiring substantive code changes.
All resources are consolidated within the Oracle AI Hub, allowing organizations to manage their AI solutions from a unified platform. Additionally, the full NVIDIA AI Enterprise suite is now built into the OCI Console, helping developers quickly deploy GPU instances with a few clicks.
