Tesla Expands Robotaxi Service to Dallas and Houston: What You Need to Know

Tesla is expanding its robotaxi service to Dallas and Houston, as announced through a social media post that reads, “Robotaxi is now rolling out in Dallas & Houston 🤠.” This announcement was accompanied by a brief video showcasing Tesla vehicles operating without any human drivers or monitors in the front seat.

With this expansion, Tesla’s robotaxi service is now available in three Texas cities, following its debut in Austin last year. The company began offering rides without safety drivers in January 2026. However, reports indicate that Tesla’s robotaxis in Austin have been involved in 14 crashes since their launch.

In addition, Tesla provides a more traditional ride-hailing service with human drivers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Yet, data from the Robotaxi Tracker indicates that the number of active vehicles in Dallas and Houston might be low, with only one registered vehicle in each city compared to 46 in Austin.
