Meta Unveils Muse: A Cutting-Edge AI Image Generator
Meta has launched its new AI image generator called Muse, developed by the Meta Superintelligence Labs. This tool, initially dubbed Mango during its development, will be accessible for free through the Meta AI app, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp.
Muse is designed to create a variety of images, including whimsical and cartoonish types. It offers "presets" for users who might struggle with crafting their own image prompts, aimed at sparking creativity. Demonstrations of Muse’s capabilities include generating custom advertisements and interior design visuals, like envisioning how a secondhand couch might appear in a room, which ties into Facebook Marketplace functionalities.
The AI model also supports prompt-based image editing. This means users can request specific tasks such as removing unwanted elements from photos or creating unique QR codes. Meta is also rolling out a new suite of AI effects for Instagram Stories that will work alongside Muse, featuring customizable filters for existing photos.
While Muse is free for casual users, Meta has indicated that there may be limits, beyond which users might need to subscribe to a paid plan. Additionally, there are plans for Muse Video, a forthcoming AI video generator.
Meta has been actively developing various AI applications, including an assistant called Creator and Pocket, a platform aimed at game development. Despite facing scrutiny about its AI strategy, Meta continues to invest heavily in AI infrastructure to enhance its offerings.
