Salesforce Predicts the UK Will Lead the Charge in Agentic AI Innovation
Salesforce has released its UK AI Readiness Index, which highlights the United Kingdom’s strong position to lead the next phase of AI innovation, particularly in the area known as agentic AI. The report indicates that the UK is ahead of other G7 nations regarding AI adoption but also identifies areas that require further development, such as supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), creating cross-sector partnerships, and enhancing talent development.
Zahra Bahrololoumi CBE, CEO of Salesforce UKI, noted that agentic AI is transforming enterprise software by facilitating effective collaboration between humans and AI agents to enhance customer success. According to her, the index shows that the UK possesses both the vision and infrastructure necessary to become a global powerhouse in AI.
Advancements in UK AI Adoption
The Index reveals that both public and private sectors in the UK are embracing AI’s transformative capabilities. With a readiness score of 65.5, which surpasses the G7 average of 61.2, the UK is becoming a leading hub for AI initiatives, supported by a culture of innovation and rational regulatory frameworks.
The UK government plays a crucial role by establishing a secure environment for tech investments. Initiatives such as the AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park and proactive AI legislation demonstrate the UK’s commitment to addressing key issues like transparency and privacy.
Business readiness is high as well, with UK industries scoring 52, well above the G7 average of 47.8. More SMEs are prioritizing AI implementations, further strengthening the UK’s position in the global AI landscape.
Adam Evans, EVP & GM of Salesforce AI Platform, projects that by 2025, these AI agents will become more adept at understanding business challenges, enabling them to execute important tasks with greater impact.
Investment in the AI Ecosystem
Salesforce plans to invest $4 billion in the UK AI ecosystem over the next five years. After opening its UK AI Centre in London, the company has already involved over 3,000 stakeholders in AI training and workshops. Key areas of investment include bridging regulatory approaches between the EU and the US, supporting SMEs in adopting AI, enhancing digital skills, and centralizing training efforts to meet future workforce needs.
Feryal Clark, Minister for AI and Digital Government, expressed confidence that the UK is well-positioned to leverage AI for economic growth and innovation. She added that the UK government is planning ways to enhance AI adoption across various sectors.
Antony Walker, Deputy CEO at techUK, emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and industry to nurture innovation, support SMEs, and maintain flexible regulations, ensuring the UK remains at the forefront of the global AI economy.

Several organizations, including Capita, Secret Escapes, Heathrow, and Bionic, have adopted Salesforce’s Agentforce to enhance productivity. Capita’s CEO, Adolfo Hernandez, highlighted their aim to streamline the recruitment process with the help of autonomous agents to provide candidates with a faster, more seamless experience.
In the travel sector, Secret Escapes uses Agentforce to automate routine tasks, allowing customer service representatives to focus on more complex inquiries, thereby better serving their customers.
