The goal of Prentis is to create AI systems that can autonomously manage workflows across various documents and software, improving efficiency in tasks such as processing insurance claims and automating customs duty refunds without human intervention. The startup has already secured contracts worth as much as $50 million with clients from different industries, including healthcare and manufacturing, and anticipates generating significant revenue, with projections of a $75 million annual run rate by the third quarter.
Prentis touts its Hive-32B model as superior to its competitors, claiming it outperforms notable AI offerings like OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 in specific benchmarks that assess the completion of tasks across real-world applications. The company asserts that its model operates at a fraction of the cost of leading API solutions, making it more viable for widespread deployment.
As the demand for automating office tasks rises, Prentis enters a competitive market that also features efforts from established entities like Anthropic and OpenAI, which are developing similar technologies.
Ritankar Das, now leading Prentis, previously founded Titan, a holding company that nurtures AI startups. He is recognized for his academic achievements and has a history of entrepreneurship, including creating other successful healthcare and technology ventures. Meanwhile, both Hoffman and Pincus, known for their respective successes with LinkedIn and Zynga, are also engaged in various new tech initiatives.
Prentis employs over 25 staff members, drawing talent from high-profile organizations such as OpenAI and Google DeepMind, and continues to expand its capabilities in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
