Could Apple’s HomeView Be Its First Smart Home Success?
Apple is expected to announce a new smart home hub called HomeView on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The Siri-powered device reportedly has a display and an A18 chip, and is designed to control other smart home devices. It may come in two versions: one for a countertop and another that can be mounted on a wall.
The HomeView would be Apple’s most significant push into smart home hardware so far. The company has struggled to gain traction with both HomeKit and its HomePod speaker. Reports of the hub’s development have circulated for several years, and its release was reportedly delayed by Siri-related challenges.
Apple is also expected to unveil updated versions of the Apple TV set-top box and HomePod mini. Earlier this week, reports said the company plans to partner with LG on a smart lock, thermostat, and doorbell.
