The platform draws upon a network of over 100,000 gig creators to edit video clips. The company’s co-founder and CEO, Justin Banusing, originally applied their technology to promote his own passion for electronic music, specifically growing the and &Friends festival in Manila, which now attracts over 20,000 attendees.
Recently, Clouted secured a $7 million seed funding round led by Slow Ventures, with additional contributions from several other investment firms. Unique to Clouted is its approach that focuses on the efficacy of campaigns rather than merely the volume of clips generated. Their AI operates through a continuous testing loop, experimenting with varied formats and distribution strategies to optimize performance with each subsequent campaign.
Banusing compares Clouted to penetration testing in cybersecurity, where systems are rigorously tested to find vulnerabilities. Instead, Clouted’s AI and network of creators explore various video clipping and distribution techniques to determine what content has the potential to go viral.
In Banusing’s words, “the result is that every campaign Clouted runs makes the next one faster, smarter, and more effective.” The platform learns from past campaigns to refine its strategies over time.
Although Clouted competes with startups like Overlap AI, Banusing sees greater challenges from established marketing infrastructure companies such as CreatorIQ and Hightouch, the latter of which recently surpassed $100 million in ARR. Ultimately, this is the market Clouted aims to capture.
