RingCentral Expands AI Receptionist Capabilities with Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp Integration
RingCentral has enhanced its AI Receptionist product, known as AIR, by integrating with Shopify, Calendly, and WhatsApp, expanding its capabilities beyond just answering calls. The software can now process order inquiries via Shopify, arrange appointments through Calendly, and manage incoming messages from WhatsApp. It will also be incorporated into shared SMS inboxes and call queues to assist during busy periods or when staff are unavailable.
Currently, over 11,800 businesses utilize AIR, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, finance, legal, hospitality, and construction, where it serves to streamline front-desk operations and provide after-hours support. For instance, Keller Interiors, aligned with Lowe’s Home Improvement, implemented AIR across 33 locations. Chief of Staff Beth Owens highlighted that AIR effectively addressed a routing issue previously unsolvable by human staff, reducing wait times from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds and increasing customer satisfaction scores.
Maple Federal Credit Union also reported that AIR has cut down hold times at branches by 90%, resulting in quicker service and less pressure on their team, fostering more effective interactions.
The integration with Shopify enables AIR to handle basic order and customer support inquiries over the phone, while the Calendly integration allows it to arrange appointments seamlessly. Furthermore, the WhatsApp integration taps into a messaging platform that is widely used among consumers and small businesses.
In addition to these features, RingCentral is introducing automatic language detection, enabling AIR to recognize and converse with customers in their preferred languages, offering support in ten languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese.
Industry experts, like Michelle Morgan from IDC, see this update as a practical application of AI that directly addresses business needs. RingCentral’s Vice President of Growth for AI Products, Joe Fahrner, noted that AIR is evolving into what he describes as a "digital employee" for small to mid-sized companies.
Now available as a standalone product, AIR starts at $49 per month, including 100 minutes, with a reduced starting price of $39 for existing RingEX customers, also offering 100 minutes.
